I am restoring a sleeping porch on the second story of our 1912 bungalow. I would like to stencil a quote in the frieze, does anyone know of a resource for quotes of this era? Thanks

Hello Lard,
I just did a google search on Arts and Crafts Famous Quotes of 1912 and there were quite a few to choose from. Have a look yourself. Respectfully, Ralph Jones www.ralphjoneswoodworking.com |

The Roycrofters, Elbert Hubbard specifically, were famous for their mottos and epigrams. The various reprinted Roycrofter catalogues have a bunch noted, as these were sold on card stock of the day. There is also a reprinted collection called the Roycroft Motto Book.
Here are a few from the Roycrofters: "Blessed is the man who has found his work" "Blessed is the woman who has found her work" "Fences are for those who can not Fly" "The love you liberate in your work is the love you keep." "I believe that no one can harm us but ourselves, that there is no devil but fear" |
