Hello everyone... Just wanted to share this, We finished this cabinet for a lady here in town.. It is one of those really massive pieces that you just don;t see very often.. To get an idea of scale.. it is 5 ft tall and 10 ft long. It needed a custom skid to move, and took 3 of us grunting the whole way.. (LOL) Took about 3 weeks of very long days to build.. All solid oak fame and panel, adj shelves, interior lights, Leaded panels.. We figured around 800 pounds.. (LOL)

Very impressive indeed.

Is the door panel decoration an inlay of some sort or painted?

What type of stain and finish?

Hello,

It is a stencil pattern.. and the wood is aged, and then an amber shellac and wax finish. I did a little experimenting with inlay.. But never really could get the contrast right.. I opted for a stencil and hand painting combo.. and hen tinted the stencil to give it more of an antique look.. The hardware is all the new Mackintosh collecton from Horton Brass.. Man they have some great stuff..

I was a little hesitant on the hardware.. spending $30 a piece for a pull is a little on the steep side, But after I got the pulls, Each one is like a work of art.. simply amazing.

House of Yesteryear,
That is one fantastic piece. My compliments on you labor and TLC. I hope you got the right price out of it. I am working on a small Limbert
Taborette reproduction, which I am making out of walnut instead of white oak. I just thought a change of pace would be nice for a change.
Hopefully when I get it done I will post it for all to see.

Respectfully,

Ralph Jones
