Good Afternoon Friends
I am pleased to post a picture of an 1884 dining room table that I refinished for a client, who was very pleased with what I did with it as it didn't look anything like it is now. Respectfully, Ralph Jones www.ralphjoneswoodworking.com |

Nice work, Ralph. I've been so inspired lately by the posters on this site that I'm taking a woodworking class at the Oregon College of Art & Craft ... interestingly it was established in 1907 as the Arts and Crafts Society. ;-)

Hello Rikki,
It is so nice to see some really taking an interest in how the pieces were made back them and if it would help I may just post some tutorials in how to hand craft dovetales as well as making mortises all by hand. Attached is some of my hand cut dovetails. Respectfully, Ralph Jones www.ralphjoneswoodworking.com |

The class I'll be taking teaches the use of traditional hand tools, so it should be pretty exciting. We're supposed to gain enough skill to make a small table ...

Hello Rikki,
Since I am a retired Vocational Carpentry school teacher I will be more than happy to help you in any way I can, as well as to pass on to members of these forums who are interesting in building from the simple things to the ornate. I am attaching some of my house trim to give you an idea. Respectfully, Ralph Jones www.ralphjoneswoodworking.com |
