Here is a cute bench I bought in late August. I especially like the form of the piece. The bench has a sturdy look about it.

Even though it is unsigned, this example just goes to show that there were several furniture makers of the period, who made nicely designed and built furniture. Not all pieces can be signed Stickleys, Roycroft, or Limbert. I could just picture this bench in a log cabin, or cottage setting. Furthermore, while new to this forum,I really appreciate all of the input that you, Ralph Jones, have to give. It really benefits and furthers the conversations and discussions. Thanks a lot. Tim

Are those casters on the front legs? The design of the front legs do give it a strong feel. Are they through tenons? Interesting metal straps on the underside of the seat.

Wonderful rayflecking on the armrests. What is the size? Would we consider this a settle?

Yeah, those are castors. I believe them to be original. The metal straps were added by a someone some time ago, and were probably used to reinforce the piece. A local shop reupholstered it about 30 years ago. That is about how long it has been since they were open. The bottom originally had a piece of fabric going across it. Looked to be added by said upholsterer. I removed it to check for a maker's label. I was surprised not to find one, given the construction. It is really a solid piece. It does have thru tenons. I would consider it a bench, but, others who are more knowledgeable may disagree. Thanks for your input. Sincerely, Tim

I have to admire your luck in finding such a charming piece. Sort of loveseat size. The front castors seem unusual and I agree that they are probably original.
