I recently purchased a daybed off craigslist for my daughter. I was not overly concerned with maker or anything, but upon further inspection after getting it home it appears to have a Stickley makers mark. I have searched the internet and have failed to find anything like this, so does anyone know if this is really a Stickley piece? I just want to know what I have before I decide whether or not to refinish it. Thanks so much!

AlmaGurl218,

Welcome to the forum.

Yes indeed you do have a Stickley piece. It is from the Colonial line called Cherry Valley. It was introduced in the 20's due to market pressures when the mission style was waning in popularity.

Thank you for the confirmation!

How strange that I can't find any other pieces like this online! My research had led me to believe it was part of the Cherry Valley line, just can't seem to find many specifics on the piece. I would hate to refinish it if its actually valuable... Smile

This stuff is not really valued by collectors. It's pretty well made - but not outstanding in design or originality. Others may disagree but in my opinion it's a refinishing candidate.
