Good Evening Friends,
I am going to show in the next few replies as well as this on a mission style desk that went to New Jersey. These are pictures in progress of the construction of the desk. This is an end view. Respectfully, Ralph Jones Moderator www.ralphjoneswoodworking.com ![]() |

Next is either a back view or front, as I forget.Note how the drawer fron matches the apron and the reason I cut it out of the apron.

Now we have the back side. By the way this desk was made out of Mahogany.

Beautiful dovetails, Ralph.
I made my first attempt at hand cut dovetails last night. I got the geometry right, but they are kind of loose and will need to be shimmed. Definitely a skill that takes lots of practice and very sharp chisels! Rikki |

Good Morning Rikki,
Don't forget that I have had 59 years to perfect my dovetails and many other joints that I put together.the long story short is it take time and repetitions of a chore to get good at it. Respectfully, Ralph www.ralphjoneswoodworking.com |
