Our movers lost the leg to this table. Can anyone tell me anything about it? Even a way to search to get some comps would be very helpful.

Thank you so much,
Mel

Given the amount of problems you have encountered, the best course of action I can give you is to contact some sort of legal counsel. Because of the complexity of your situation, it would probably be the best thing to do.

While shipping companies make millions of dollars annually selling insurance, their point of view of financial responsibility is far different than yours. The rules and regulations governing such responsibility varies state by state, and therefore it would be advantageous for you to get local professional counsel in such matters. Thanks. Tim

Luckily, we are military and have free legal counsel. Because of that (I believe), the moving companies treat us pretty fairly when it comes to damage. We will get full replacement value for any items that were lost or damaged if we claim it that way. I plan on claiming the table for replacement - no emotional attachment like the desk and it's pretty useless with 3 legs (although I am pretty annoyed because I love the length of this table - 83 " and 2 20" leaves on the ends).

The problem is that most of our furniture is from family or antique shops, but I don't know a lot about furniture styles, etc., so it's hard for me to even search for replacement. If I can find a few comps, they will use that for replacement value. I just need a starting point for searching.

Mel,
Welcome to the forum. Try this search on eBay: Antique Oak Draw Leaf Table

I saw one or two that looked very similar.

Mel,

In our last move we suffered over $10,000 in damage to our antiques from Germany to Arizona. We received full reimbursement but, unfortunately, the value of our beautiful pieces is affected and the loss of some unique pieces heartbreaking. That was our final military move and the only one we had that much damage. Good luck and don't miss the suspense for submitting everything!

Probably the most efficient way to find similar styles of furniture would be to hire a local interior designer. They are very knowledgeable in this area, and would expedite things immensely. Thanks. Tim
