I posted comment a few days back describing a mission oak library table I purchased. The table has a center drawer with two wrought iron pulls. On either side of the center drawer are two verticle slats with pointed ends. There are two shelves on each side of the table. There is a paper label under the drawer depicting a red bear (maybe grizzley bear). There is a number under the table top - 1219.

Someone out there must have come across such a table. Please let me know.

Thanks.

unfortunatly, there were so many makers in all areas of the country that most go unidentified. even when the piece has a label, the companies are long gone and forgotten.

i have a desk similar to yours with a metal tag labeled King Furniture Mfg.Warren Ohio. i have not been able to locate any info on this maker. i also have several other unmarked pieces i know will never be identified, but i enjoy them none the less.

good luck in your search, but dont let it detract from your appreciation.

I tried a Google image search to see if a similar or matching picture would come up somewhere. I tried 'red bear label' and got 2 pages of nothing related and 'red bear logo' and got 8 pages of nothing related, but if you try 'bear label' or 'bear logo' you get well over 20 pages to sift through (and you can go through those if you want, not me Wink). The Sherlock Holmes in me would think a couple things...1) likely a maker somewhere in bear country, maybe out west or northeast, and 2) maybe the red bear is symbolic for a native name, i.e. Red Bear, and maybe this means there is a native as well as a bear connection - just a couple thoughts. The other possibilities are that it is not a maker's label at all but maybe a shop or dealer's label or a company label, meaning "property of..." kind of thing. Otherwise, I echo Don's comments - If you never figure out the maker, you still have a nice piece of history to enjoy.
