| photos document before and after in a refinish project. i bought the chair at a yard sale for $35. as you can see in the pics, the finish is very dark shellac with what looks like several very sloppy overcoats, hence the drips. the photo under the arm shows the original color i think. i have started cleaning it with alcholol to remove the shellac and have uncovered beautiful quartered oak as expected. when i get the whole chair uniform, i will shellac and wax. |
