I have a set of 6 Michigan dinning chairs that were my great-grandmother's. I am sure that they are dated somewhere before 1953 as my great-grandfather died in that year and my great-grandmother moved in with my grandmother, bring those chairs with her. They appear to be made of walnut wood and are high backs with an arch in the middle at the top. The center of the chairs are adorned in a three inch wide wicker piece that goes straight down the chair's back. With two open slots on each side. The circle stamp is paper and says Michigan Chair Company Grand Rapids. In the middle of the stamp is Chairs No. H616. Underneath this is the number 32. Underneath that is Wal (which I figure stands for walnut). Can I get any information on these chairs? I am not looking to sell as they have sentimental value to me. I still use them with with my grandmother's dining table (another subject).
Thanks, Stacy Smile

Good Morning Stacy,
Welcome to the Arts and Crafts Society forums, we are glad you came aboard and in regard to the chairs since they are dated after 1925 or the end so to speak of the Arts and Crafts Movement they are still of the nature that they are appreciated but as far as having the value of the chairs made during the A&C movement it would be far less than the originals.

There are so many pieces made in Wisconsin and by the same company as you mentioned they are worth the pricing of today's market depending on their condition.

Respectfully,

Ralph Jones
