Stonecat,
Hope you can solve the mystery of our Mission desk. The circular decal was placed inside the drawer and use has worn most of it. The drawer also contains handwritten information about manufacture Mdl # in pencil and stamped "No.384" and the additional number "532" The drawer sides are marked left and right in pencil as well. The mark seems to indicate it was manufactured in Minnesotta. ".....Y LINE" Fred (Moderator) http://fredz49.blogspot.com/ |

I've done some searching and the easy answer is...nothing. In fact I only have one listing for a company from Minnesota:
Twin City Mission Furniture Co. • St. Paul, MN, early 1900s • foot stools, magazine tables, library tables, chairs, rockers shop mark: “Twin City Mission Furniture Company/Furniture Manufacturers/ St. Anthony Park, ST. PAUL, MINN” - rectangular paper label ...and it doesn't look like this would fit as a variant. I have been collecting the 'unknown' marks as well as identifiable marks, so I'll add this one - I actually have about 30 unknowns. |

Stonecat,
Thanks for the information. Perhaps some literature or ephemera may appear that will help us identify this mark. I will send images of my table as well. Construction is pretty good with solid boards for the top. I look forward to seeing your database. Be sure to include the unidentified marks. Fred Fred (Moderator) http://fredz49.blogspot.com/ |

...and a couple months later...
A piece on eBay with the mark confirmed: http://cgi.ebay.com/ANTIQUE-MISSION-OAK-LIBRARY-TABLE-D...QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem ...but unfortunately nothing much comes up in a Google search for Daisy Line, so maybe this is just a brand name of a company by another name...more research required but its a start.. |

Oh my gosh! I just saw that label yesterday in a run down flea market that tries to pass its self off as an antique store.
Only a jagged top portion of that label remained inside a drawer of this interesting student table/library table. It has drawers on one side for use as a desk and on the other side is a library table style bookcase. Sadly, the guy that owns the desk has it has in line to be stripped of its old finish and reglued. There is no price and I doubt that he would let me buy it as is. This seems to be a sorce of pride for him. He hates original finishes and has worked weeks on mission pieces to get rid of that ugly black finish. And, bother, was it hard to get off!! It is sometimes very painful to walk in there and see all these wonderful Mission pieces with a new golden oak stain topped by layers of poly. I have told him that I want to see/buy only the pieces with the original finishes. Needless to say, I have never had the opportunity to buy from him. Bev. |

Hey Fred,
Could you put up a picture of that desk? It might be just like the one that I saw yesterday. It has a bunch of furniture on top of it. Bev. |
