How can I research Stickley furniture that never made it into a catalog? (I assume that that catalogs showed "production" models; what about numbered, one-of-a-kind items?) I think I need access to a special library collection!
Many thanks for any help anyone can give--I'm not "in" the furniture field! I'm researching a chairt that's too involved to be mass-produced, with some bent wood on the underarm slats and back slats and cutouts on the back splats. It's fumed, a cube-shape rocker, but very high-style. It's # 399. Thanks!

Sounds interesting, but pictures would be a huge help - instructions and options for posting pictures are at the top of the forum.

Wish I could post a picture! But actually, all
I need is to be pointed to information sources for non-catalogued pieces. Surely there are many one-of-a-kind pieces, or prototypes, that didn't get mass-produced. Are there any documents or libraries with the company's records of such pieces?
Many thanks,
DB

I have a prototype rocker by Stickley Bros. I emailed the Stickley Company, asked them to forward my request to the corporate historian's office, sent a bunch of pictures along with my questions. Stickley company historian gave me excellent info on my chair. Attributed the chair to Albert Stickley and now I have "provenence" to a non manufactured Stickley item.
