Hi! This is my first post though I have been reading posts for the last few months. I'm absolutely addicted to mission despite my declaration about 8 years ago that it "just isn't my style". It does hold true that once you are won over it gets in your blood. I've been pretty fortunate to find some great pieces over the last few years and I'll post pics of a few soon.

I have the opportunity (if it hasn't sold) to purchase a Limbert china cabinet #473. However, the door has been replaced with plain framed glass door. I'm sure I could have a local craftsman make a replacement but was wondering what a good price to offer might be given the condition. Plus, it would have to be shipped which could be costly. I tried attaching a photo but keep getting an error message. Ideas?

I've posted the photos here: http://morgana.onfinite.com/album/1296511/

Is there a simpler way to just putting the pictures into the post without having to just put a link?

Hello Morgana,
Welcome to these forums and as you said they get into you system and draw you even closer.

The display case is in fact a Limbert cabinet, however I can't say as much on the chair so I will wait till Fred or one of the other folks who can give you a better answer.

Respectfully,

Ralph Jones

Welcome to the forum,

The cabinet is a desirable shape and style. Though it will never be anything more than a restored Libert piece. Even if the craftsman makes you a new door with the three top panels like the original. I might suggest just having new overlayed mullions and muntins, giving the illusion of seperate panes. Alot depends on price and if you have a place for it. I do not think it is an investment piece. Rago sold a #1473 Limbert cabinet for $5,800 about 2 years ago. It had original door, finish, & branded stamp.

Well, the lady sold it last night for $1,800. I wouldn't think it would go for that much with the door missing.

Fred, I'm just right down the road from you in Sierra Vista! My husband and I are stationed at the fort.

Morgana,

I saw that you were from Sierra Vista last night as I was responding to your post. You have interesting shops there and I believe the post has some good sales as well. I know a dealer who buys there often.

Fred
