Hello All,
I'm new to the board, but not new to antiques, vintage, and treasure hunting. My questions resides in identifying a desk. I've tried to do suitable research, but to no avail. It has all of the natural signatures of Mission style, i.e.wood type, design concept, shape and line. Dove tails are hand constructed, etc.. It is simplistic in that it appears to be like many others but no label or makers mark has been presently found as of yet. (I had about 5 minutes to look at this desk, removed one drawer, took a picture with my phone, and asked where the family came from that owned this desk before my cousin acquired it. It was slated for the curb, belonged to a gentleman whom had passed away at age 79. It was his mothers desk, and the family did not want it) The desk is almost exactly as the one shown in the picture, but with a barbell cutouts on either side in place of this desks front slates. http://www.jeffersonwest.com/itemdetails.php?id=38565 Obviously the desk I speak of is not polished steel, but the design is one in the same except the barbell cutout. I'd appreciae any help in identfying this desk, and if you need any info, pics, from the Roycroft Inn, etc.. or the Darwin Martin House, let me know. I'm not that far away. Thanks in advance Kim |
