My local arts and crafts dealer gave me this piece out of his junk pile. It was once a photo printer. The small metal tag that was on the bottom read "Crown Printer, made by Folmer and Sohwing (?) Division Eastman Kodak Co. Rochester NY". He had picked it up because it is made of good quality wood and has mortise and tenon construction.
After what was some creative woodworking and alterations, I think I have what could be described as an arts and crafts style stand. What do you think? I completely disassembled it, turned many of the pieces around to show better wood, cut many of the pieces and constructed the second shelf, etc. etc. I had pieces of slate cut at the local home improvement warehouse to fit the top and the second shelf. I removed most of the original finish with alcohol and refinished it with the "fumed oak" anhiline dye I posted about earlier, two coats of amber shellac, and some black wax. So, do you think it is now an arts and crafts style piece? It is certainly one of a kind whatever it is. Total cost was something like $10. |

You are a genius. I look at that mass of wood (first picture) and could not figure out how anyone could salvage that mess.
You have a good eye to create such a functional, pracitical out of that pile of junk. Good job, good work and very creative. Bev. |
