Limbert maybe - I'll check, but that's a pile of bids; I assume there was a reserve (started at 5 bucks) and Bidder 7 couldn't resist to find out, or the bid climbing from Bidder 7 was BS and staged to look legit, and then 8 and 6 fell for it. Gotta look it up to be sure.
That's a BS auction there. Maybe at best a JM young, but I don't think it's even that good. The thru tenon's on the arm are the only thing keeping me from saying a 3rd tier maker....wisconsin chair co, or someone like that. It is odd that 3 bidders were up that high, but then again ebay can't do much about seller's having multiple accounts. I think it's pretty safe to say that's a $500 rocker on a good day in most shops. That's just my opinion though.
Well, I am surprized you all missed the obvious. Just from the picture alone you can tell right away why this rocker is so significant and commands such a rich price.
SC, I am shocked you didn't see the clue staring you in the face! Or the butt!
It's that simply scumptuopus fabric that has graced the seat of this chair for years. Acanthus leaves and chrysanthemums? It just screams opulance! Good lord!
