Hi, I just joined the group. I found this child's swivel desk chair at an estate sale and I'm having a hard time identifying it. I think it's an oak Larkin chair made in the 1900s but I'm not sure. It's about 3 feet high. It has a portrait of a dog on the back rest and decorative arm rests. It needs some refinishing (the leather seat has worn away). Can anyone help me? And does anyone know if it's valuable enough to have professionally refinished? Thanks!

Hello Friend,
It most certainly is worth having it refinished and I would be more than happy to do it for you if you were close to London, Ohio. I repair and refinish furniture and can also get a new seat for it. I truly love that chair and the design since I do carvings of all styles. See if you can locate a mark on it and or a label. I am off to look for it on google. Hello Friend,
For a sample of my work scroll down 7 threads to furniture refinishing by Ralph Jones and look at the child's rocker I refinished. The before picture had seven coats of lead paint and I had to hand scrape all of it off as chemicals caused it to be toxic. Respectfully, Ralph Jones www.ralphjoneswoodworking.com |
