Anyone know if Limbert actually made this rocker with these extended rocker rails?
It's maked Limberts, It's not in my catalogs althugh I do find a similar rocker with standard length rockers. Seller states they could be original. |

I doubt its original. I've seen this trick before however. Assuming the rockers are replacements, they are likely the bent back posts from another chair. Proportionally they are pretty much the right length. Its not a bad idea to cook up replacements from a junker period chair but you need a heck of a radius to work properly so the chair will rock correctly, and I doubt many, if any, old back posts are the right radius. You probably have to adjust the lean of the chair and cut the base of the posts on angles, which it looks like they've done here, to make it rock even a little. Overall, the lean, the angle between the rocker and lower rail, and the radius look 'wrong' so nice try at a replacement but it doesn't quite look like it works.
Another thought here - There is no bend near the base of the back posts which is typically done with a rocker to prevent the acute angle, and resulting stress, between the post and rocker. So, this may in fact be a standard arm chair modified into a rocker mutant. |

I saw the straight back leg and questioned the rails. The seat cushion does not look correct, as it should be webbed and leather coverd with slight padding, not poofy fabric domed look. Nice touch though on the wood seat frame if it was refinished.

Good Evening Friends,
If you look close enough the rocker on the right side of the chair is on backwards as the front curve is to the rear and the slanted back is to the front of the rocker. This is a very poor attempt to make it look original. Respectfully, Ralph Jones www.ralphjoneswoodworking.com |
