Although Tobey clocks were not Arts & Crafts in design, they are mentioned in the Barren history of the Tobey Company, though the date suggested of the 1920's is far off. Tobey marketed very fancy cased hall clocks ("grandfather") clocks, most with very elaborately carved cases. I am curator of the American Clock & Watch Museum at Bristol, CT and we have a Tobey catalog of clocks which is undated, though I would suggest it dates in the 1890-1900 period. We do not believe Tobey actually manufactured, but only marketed the clocks as some of the identical models were also sold by Tiffany & Co. of New York. We suspect the clocks were made by J. J. Elliott & Co. of London, but if anyone has information about Tobey clocks, just when they were selling them or their actual manufacture, we would be pleased to hear from you at
