I have a Cadillac table-desk. I stripped it and it is beautiful. It is missing the bottom stretcher (under the desk, near the floor). Could you email a picture of the desk so that I may see what the original looked like? Sorry I don't know the value.

I have a desk that is in mint condition with a gold sticker with the dates; Jayn 1906 / Feb 1908 / May 1908 / Oct 1908 ; Cadillac Cabinet Company Detroit, Mi. My father built a matching pigeon hole top for it in high school wood shop in the 30's. so it has been in the family for awhile. don't know if grandparnets bought it new or what.

I have the same sticker on my desk as Tom Cox does with the same dates. It's a nice, unique piece, but I don't know much about the company.

We seem to have 2 threads going regarding this company so here's 'cut and paste' from the other one, to keep things tidy, and then more below:
<Clazaam> Posted 01-16-06 07:51 PM I have what I call a secretary desk 30"W x 22"D x 29"H with a center flip-top covered pull out drawer 25"W and a shelf about 7" off the ground connected to 4 lazy 'S' shaped legs all in a cherry finish. On the underside of the flip-top is a metal tag stating patented Jan 9, 1906 Cadillac Cabinet Company Detroit Mich Does anyone know its'approximate value - it is in excellent original condition? Stonecat Member Posted 01-16-06 10:50 PM Cadillac Cabinet was one of the middle tier 'generic' makers, but they did make some interesting desk to table conversions. Curved legs and cherry finish doesn't sound like Arts & Crafts / Mission style, although this compnay did make Mission. Sounds like maple stained to look like mahogany in a Colonial or French style. The value won't be nearly as high as oak in Mission style. Maybe $200-$400 range; hard to be specific without seeing it. On the other hand, if cherry finish really means its made of real mahogany then maybe more. edit I found a mahogany 'Empire" style on the web so yes the mahogany version might be worth a little more than suggested above. ...and more...I can't find any substantial info on this company, but I did have the following tucked away in my data base - very neat table-desk combo - the strong shop mark is about as much info as there seems to be, i.e. location and dates |

My cadillac desk is oak, with curved legs and larger dimensions than the one described above. It's definitely not mission style.

i have recently inherited a cadillac desk-table patented jan. 1906, feb. 1908, may 1908, & oct 1908. the sticker inside the pull-out desk says it was made by the cadillac cabinet company in detroit, michigan. it is definitely mission style with somewhat tapered legs. the table top is veneered, even though it appears to be solid wood underneath. i'm not sure of the type of wood, but it has a deep mahogany finish and all original hardware, including ink well. can someone tell me a little more about this company and what value this desk is worth. i would like to have the table top restored (the veneer has cracked along the edges) but i don't want to lessen the value. thanks.

I have a liquor cabinet that has a sticker on it that says made by Cadillac Cabinet Company. Can anyone give me additional information on this cabinet; such as when it was made or its value ? It has a lazy susan style shelf in it and the top folds out and rotates to make a larger table.

Please post some pictures if you can, to help with valuation estimates. I've found very little other information about this company other than they were a subsidiary of the Wolverine Mfg. Co., which also made furniture with the Wolverine Mfg. mark, and that they advertised in the Roycrofters magazine, the "FRA". Dates seem to be limited to 1906-1911. |
