Our local university purchased an old home.. to remodel for visiting staff from out of town. The exterior is brick.. but the inside is all english arts and crafts. Anyways.. They want all new furniture designed and built for the lower level.. Pretty cool to get to design the whole bottom floor. Tables, chairs, lights, settles etc..

Here is the chair design (a little off the wall)

Thanks!

HOY needs to update his web page.. It has only been a few months.. like (5)

It is not so much the big order as much as the total control they gave.. It is not often you get a customer that lets you design all of the pieces for a lower level.. so it was pretty lucky..

Dining Room
~Sideboard
~2 Dining tables (so they can push together)
~8 Chairs
~Dining Light

Living Room
~Settle
~2 Cube Chairs
~Coffee Table
~Ottomans
~Wall Mirrors

Any wall decor for the lower level

~Hall Settle

Cool chair. Great design.

Lucky you.

It is not often often that a creative person--artist or craftsman, gets the opportunity to take over a design project and give total control. Wow.

Keep us updated on your new designs. With all of your expertise in A & C, this commission should result in some spectacular pieces.

Good luck.

Bev.

Great chair!

Which local university, Indiana State? I guess it would have to be since Rose Hulman and St. Mary's are colleges...

Keep sending the pictures. I am curious to see the settle since most people generally regard them as uncomfortable. The cushions will be the key. A&C does make sense for a university given the regular heavy use the furniture will likely receive.

Good morning,

thank you..

Yip, Indiana State University. i just listed the chair on Ebay.. it was the mock up design for them.. To get all 8 exactly the same, they really need to be made all at the same time.

Between the University and Union hospital, pretty much all of the homes between them will be gone. I know ISU purchased 40 properties at the tax sale this last month.. Union has torn down about 30 this last year. The home they are restoring will be one of the few left in the area.

Like most colleges, the homes around it all have been so run down from being used as rentals.. Very sad. Since Terre Haute really saw its peak pre depression.. we have tons of bungalows.

Unfortunantly, most people here don;t know what a bungalow is.. or how to properly restore and maintain an old home.. so they fall into disrepair. very sad...
