Hi, we are new to the forum...we live in St. Pete FL and have grown very fond of Arts and Craft / Mission furniture. We recently purchased a rocker w/o its seat and we were wondering if anybody had some info on this piece. Thank you very much.

Thank your for your reply, we were, however looking to see if anybody had any info on what it might be worth today...or any info on a seat for the rocker. It is signed with the original finish, not in the best condition ever but not bad. Thanks again

Gustav Rocker
Here is a complete rocker. As you can see, even in good condition, with the original caning for the seat deck, a sewing or nursing rocker is worth approximately $300.

Your chair could also be an early Gus small rocker 2608. Is the piece signed? If the compass is enclosed in a box or if the decal has the Gustav Stickley signature in a box, then the chair dates from either 1902 or 1904 (compass enclosed in box). The seat (depending on which period) had either rope (1902) or cane base. With a drop in cusion. The earlier the chair the better. It would go for slightly more than just $200 to $300 but rather around $500 at auction.
