I have a strange cabinet that was evidently designed for a very special purpose, but I can't tell at all what that purpose was. The cabinet is 48" high, 18" deep, and 20" wide. It has wood hinges. When its door is opened there is a shelf midway up that slides forward 4" where it meets a stop. The shelf has a cutout in the middle. Just below the top of the cabinet, there is a handle that allows you to pull out a framed glass shelf. There is a label on the bottom of the cabinet that says, "Miller Cabinet Co., Rochester N. Y.," the the number 637 is hand lettered.

It might be a liquor cabinet (aka cellarette). If it's a liquor cabinet the cut out is so the long neck of a bottle can stick through the shelf but you still get some shelf space for whatever, glasses maybe. The glass shelf is just extra shelf space.

These types of cabinets often had multi-function tricky shelves and racks and lazy susans etc. and were sometimes combined into smokers stands and even plant stands.

Please post or attach some pictures, including the shop mark, if you can. Miller was also known to make Mission style bookstands, and library tables and were in business from ca1903-1956.
