What you have here is a small, empire styled oak buffet, or sideboard base. These usually had a mirrored top, with applied carvings, and sometimes candle shelves. The one pictured probably just had a mirrored top that stood about 8 inches tall, with curved, empire side brackets, that matched the feet on the base.
This type of furniture was heavily produced from 1890-1910, primarily from Midwestern furniture companies. While some may consider this style slightly dated(and out of fashion), the example shown seems to in excellent condition, and would make an great addition to anyone's home. Thanks for sharing. |
