I'm looking at this rocker. My opinion is that the piece has been refinished (note the darker area around the label), but he seller maintains that it has not. Thoughts?

Refinished or cleaned down original, and what about that seam on the leg? Repaired maybe, or just an original glue joint??

Yes, I saw that too -- it looks like an original glue joint, but I can't be sure. Was that common to use two pieces of wood like that?

I've seen it on rockers where the back posts needed to be a wider piece of wood stock due to the recessed angle they are cut for. But you'd think you'd see it on both sides then.

If the finish is original, then it looks like it at least had a top coat removed at one point.

Agreed, probably glued, but you would think that whoever assembled the chair should have tossed the piece aside when he saw how obvious the joint was exposed and the clear difference in grain. It would be more common to see a generic piece with an obvious joint than L&JG you would hope.
