Hi,
Can anyone help me identify this recliner. I know it is a Morris style but I'd like to know more about the possible age, maker, etc. Thanks, lkayne ![]() |

The chair may be English with the barley twist spindles. The lion heads lead me to believe it is an early chair. Just the opinion of a Metalsmith and should be taken as such.

Late 1800s / turn of the century, American 'Gothic' golden oak, throw a dart at the board of dozens of potential makers. Unless it's marked, these chairs are harder to figure out than Arts & Crafts / Mission style, and may very well be from a company that switched styles or made both styles, after 1900 or so. It looks like a good chair, don't get me wrong, certainly better than many of the early 1900's pressback and spindle chairs which dragged the 'golden oak' style all the way to the twenties.
