Billy,

I have to reply with a new thread because I can't post pictures in your album (whatever works I guess, and since you posted twice you could delete one of the albums)

Nice desk; for some reason we seem to discuss SoC a lot on this forum which is ironic because they didn't really make a huge amount of stuff.

Your desk is in the 1906 catalogue (as reprinted)with a list price of $19..

...note that yours has different handles but your handles do match other SoC pieces (as seen in the bottom example below)

Quickly checking some stuff I couldn't find results for the exact desk but here are some close ones.

...so given that the one at the bottom was originally priced at $30 or $11 dollars above yours I guess the difference is in the cubby hole things on the side. Based on this I would guesstimate yours to be valued in the $700-$1000 range, which is higher than most of the generic makers of the day, and in line with the second tier makers, but not as high as someone like Stickley (Gus of L&JG).

Nice desk Billy. Great condition.

SOC does seem to come up quite a bit which has resulted in me looking out for it. I stopped by Southern Indiana Arts and Crafts last week and he had a SOC desk similar to the bottom left picture in Stonecat's spread. However, it didn't have any type of storage on the top - just a flat surface - but it did have the diagnostic drawer handles. It also had I think 4 vertical slats running from the top apron down to the bottom stretcher. Would make a nice project - it had been painted red.

By the way, if any of you are ever near southern indiana it is well worth the trip to check out this dealer. He has an entire building full of high quality A&C pieces from a variety of makers (stickley(s), oakcraft, lifetime, limbert, SOC, Oakcraft, many others). The highlight right now is a 3-piece always-been-together Gus V-back parlor set.
