Hello Friends,
I am about to paste a link that you might find interesting in the Articles section and compare it with today's modern furniture in a box. Come-Packt Furniture Company Incorporated 1907 Furniture, sold directly to the consumer by mail order that you put together and finish yourself. A marketing idea that has been used over and over by entrepreneurs. Company Logo and Shopmark The Come-Packt Company of Ann Arbor, Michigan marketed itself as, Designers, Manufacturers, and Sellers of sectional furniture. The plan was to sell the goods direct by mail order to the customer, eliminating the middle man and reducing costs. The furniture itself was made from high grade quarter-sawn white oak and of the "Mission and Arts and Crafts Styles." The company claimed that no skill of mechanical knowledge was necessary to assemble the pieces. One has to wonder if their instructions were easier to follow than the ones included in such products today. www.ralphjoneswoodworking.com |

juxtapose,
We'd love to see an image of the bookcase. After you add the image, if I can find the catalog page with your piece, I'll add it here for you. Lauren |

On the back is a company label and after doing a search on it, I found out it was a company that shipped packaged furniture through out the country. It sound like it could be the same company..
And a post of one of a vase I found yesterday. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3235/3033578586_90a4c8e3ca_o.jpg |

That bookcase looks eerily similar to a BUILT IN Buffet I removed from a home slated for demolition in Evanston, Illinois, in 2005 and took back to our home. I've never seen another one like it. THe home it came out of was very small and modest.
Here is a picture of the buffet: And a close-up of a door: I vaguely remember the remnants of a label on the back of the mirror, but nothing was readable. Here is my blog post about taking it out and getting it home: Have Salvage? Will Travel |
