Further to ongoing database work/finalization, I am making an appeal to members/guests/lurkers for good digital pics of any of the shop marks noted below. This is a list of the key 'don't haves' or 'need a better picture'. Pics of the pieces the marks come from would also be great. Instructions for posting pictures are at the top of the forum. American Chair Mfg. Co. - shop mark: paper label “Made by American Chair Mfg. Co., Hallstead Pa.”

Binghamton Chair Co. (Binghamton Lounge Co. ca1911 (?)) - shop mark: black circular paper label with yellow lettering, name of company, plus “Morris Chairs, Rockers”

Black River Bending Co. (Kamargo Shops) - shop mark: shop mark: octagonal paper label, often w/name “Kamargo Shops”; also used rectangular label “Manufactured By Black River Bending Co., Black River, N.Y.”

Catskill Mission Furniture Co. - shop mark: “CATSKILL MISSION FURNITURE/WOODSTOCK, N.Y.”

Chair Craft Co. - shop mark: plate "Rest Fest. A feast of rest. Chair Craft Co. Traverse City, Mich."

Chicago Mission Furniture Co. - shop mark: paper label

H.C. Dexter Chair Co. (Ontario Shops) - shop mark: white paper label “H.C. Dexter Chair Co., Black River, N.Y.”

C.F. Doll Furniture Co. - shop mark: rectangular blue paper label w/clipped corners

Franciscan Shops - shop mark: paper label

Gray Furniture Co. - shop mark: rectangular metal tag/decal “Heirloom Line, Gray Furniture Co., Adrian, Mich. A.D. 1911”

Hardesty Mfg. Co. - shop mark: rectangular paper shipping label attached w/tacks, name of company & “Mission Furniture, Opera Chairs, and Counter Stools”

Langslow, Fowler Co. - shop mark: rectangular paper label w/rounded corners

William Leavens & Co. - shop mark: metal tag “Leavens Furniture Specialists” (?)

Majestic Furniture Co. - shop mark: rectangular paper label w/rounded corners

Joseph P. McHugh & Co. - shop marks: paper label, decal, or brass tag “JOSEPH P. McHUGH/MISSION FURNITURE”, and impressed diamond outline around “THE McHUGH (MISSION) FURNITURE, MADE IN NEW YORK”

McLeod Furniture Co. - shop mark: decal w/”McLeod” in script with office desk in background over “Grand Rapids”

Oak-Worth Shops - shop mark: “OAKWORTH”

Plail Brothers Chair Co. - shop mark: paper oval “PLAIL BROS./WAYLAND, NY”

Premier Mfg Co. - shop mark: “Craftstyle”

Quaint Art Furniture Co. - shop mark: oval paper label w/oval black outline around company name, and rectangular paper label w/company name, style number and finish

Wm. Ritter & Bro. - shop mark: paper label

Sheboygan Chair Co. - shop mark: square decal containing name and location, plus intertwined S/C/C in red square, and (?) diamond shape label w/”Sheboygan Chair. Co.”

Swan Furniture ( Mayflower ) - shop mark: “MAYFLOWER”

Thompson Mfg. Co. - shop mark: paper label in red ink “Crafstyle (sic) Furniture”

Tobey Furniture Co. - 1900-01, circular paper label "Tobey Furniture Company / THE NEW FURNITURE / Chicago", 1902 on, metal tag, “RUSSMORE / THE TOBEY FURNITURE COMPANY / TRADEMARK CHICAGO”

Twin City Mission Furniture Co. - shop mark: “Twin City Mission Furniture Company/Furniture Manufacturers/ St. Anthony Park, ST. PAUL, MINN”

White Furniture Co. - shop mark: label “The White Line, the Right Line”

Let me know if you need images of Charles Stickley label. This appears on a rocker here in town. The label is Stickley and someone else that he was in partnership. I am bad with names and will research it if you do not already have the mark.

'Stickley and Brandt' (Brandt was actually an uncle). If you can get a better pic than what's represented here, I'll take it...always a good thing to upgrade..

If you haven't found this one yet, I noticed it on an eBay auction that is currently listed at the moment.

Got it with a different version of the tag - I'll add this one, thanks. I've also knocked a couple others off the list, as shown above, I think.

do you have anything for Derby mfg?

i can provide a sample of label and a chair.

I'll always take better pics if you have them - the first one below is 'not confirmed', but claimed to be Derby - would be good to confirm this one, plus get a better one re the last pic

Meaning it was tagged Philly? Could be, I've found lots of add-on info after making an initial listing, and using search engines don't always give a complete story, not that I'm trying to get every tidbit. I think from the examples I've posted you get the basic jive of how it's laid out and how it works. Small companies, small coverage, but the big boys like Gus get big coverage - Gus, Roycroft, Stickley Brothers are all over 10 pages each, LJG, Limbert are several pages, other recognizables like Heywood Wakefield, Globe Wernicke also get several pages each.

Tag from an H.C. Dexter Chair Co. rocker.

I have an H.C. Dexter Chair Co. rocker that I'd love to know more about. It was handed down to me from my mother, and I'm not sure where she got it. I'm curious about how old it is, what it's worth, etc.

We just came across a desk in storage made by the Gray Furniture Co. It has the exact shop mark that you mentioned. Give me some time and I could photograph the tag for you. I don't actually own a digital camera, so I'll get a friend to do it.

In the meantime, I can't find out much about this company. Anyone know anything about it?

I have a Binghamton Day bed with a perfect mark. It is a blue circle with silver letters.

"Binghamton Chair Co. Binghamton N.Y. (in the center) Morris Chairs and Rockers.

Since our server has reached it's capacity for accepting pictures, you will need to go to Flickr or Photobucket in order to upload pictures on these forums. I use Flicker as they are user friendly and cost nothing to join. Just go to www.flickr.com and register and set up your own gallery so you can bring up a picture that you have placed in flickr and highlight the URL and then right click then copy and close then insert with in the body of your post and when clicked on will open to the picture.
