I have a lamp similar to the one in the picture, but with a cheap department store shade. Does anyone know where I can get a quality wicker shade?

Short of that, I'm currently over seas and there are scores of artisans I could get to make an exact replica if I had more exact info on dimensions, etc.

Thanks!

I found this idea very useful, there was an incredible variety that came available. Only no accurate replica, unless with a complete lamp at well over a grand:

I would just as equally settle for this shade.

One of the other hits I got offered these
{broken image}

at $90 a pop. At that price I'd want an exact replica!

So the search continues. If anyone thinks there could be interest in these shades, I might take the time to secure an artisan here. With accurate measurements, I could probably retail entire lamps like the small table lamp for under $40, made from South American hardwoods and wicker...

I have a similar Gus lamp, model 503 that I bought in an antique shop for $25 dollars! It didn't have the shade so I looked (and looked...) just like you're doing now. I emailed several high end dealers, but no luck. David Rudd of Dalton's was particularly helpful in providing information on how to attach the shade to the lamp once I found one. Anyway, after searching ebay for a few years and tolerating a shade similar to the ones posted by Kapitan von Klepper, I finally found a period shade. It's not the same as the one in the catalog, but it looks great! The problem was waiting for the right size. Luckily, that info is in the catalog reprints. I'll post a pic tomorrow.

So search ebay and craigslist for wicker and willow shades. Good luck with your search; eventually you'll find something!

Here are two pictures of Gus lamp 503. It may originally have had hand wrought iron rods to support the shade (some models have hammered copper caps). Here's the period shade I found:

Here's a photo of one of the holes from where the iron supports extend:
