Good Morning Friends,
We are really getting busy with furniture sales in the A&C style, to the point that I had to recruit my apprentices father to give us a hand. This is not counting the refurb jobs that we are getting. We just finished the construction of a fireplace surround with a mantle of 5'6" wide but starting this morning we will be starting the sanding as well as to pick up some pieces that are in need of repair in the glue joints as well as to apply new seat covers on the cushions. I found a mark on the hall bench with a storage compartment under the lid, which was placed by the maker by punching his name, month and year it was made and I will try to get a picture to post on here. The construction was by the use of single boards all being one board on the sides, bottom and lid except for the narrow board where the lid is hinged to the bench. The handles are solid brass that are in need of some good polishing and clean up. The mark was done with a nail or nail set by perforating or punching the letters and numbers. The date was May of 1911 but, I forget the maker until I get a picture. Respectfully, Ralph http://hometown.aol.com/ralj7/index.htm |
