Good Morning Friends,
It would be nice if we at least knew what each other looked like so I am attaching a picture of myself for you to recognize me should we ever meet. Respectfully, Ralph Jones http://hometown.aol.com/ralj7/index.htm |

i also like to know where people are from. i find two london ohio listings on mapquest, one west of colombus and one north of mansfield.
which is your home? another question i find interesting, is how people were introduced to the arts and crafts movement as well as whether they consider themselves simply collectors/craftspeople drawn by the aesthetic or more deeply embeded in the overall lifestyle and character of the movement. did that make sense? |

I got started when an old chair from my Grandfather got shuffled around the house a few times and ended up in my bedroom. It was so different than anything else in the house, big and chunky oak thing, and I was at an age where I was rebelling against the current norms and was deciding my life was going to be spent outdoors as much as possible and I would never wear a tie and so on, and this chair was a symbol of being different. Long story short....still have the chair...but now I have a few extra cool things to go with it Deeply embedded - no, how can any of us be,in the age we live in? I love my computer, my truck, my multi ball bearing aluminum body fishing reels and graphite fishing rods, and so on. I'm just a collector nut, thirsty for knowledge, owning cool earthy furniture, craving the thrill of bargain hunting, all that jazz. I'll never be accused of being another Elbert Hubbard |

Don,
I am a metalsmith who stumbled into the Arts & Crafts Movement through my interest in understanding those who preceeded me. I realize that I am indebted to those craftsmen and women. I love cpaxing metal into the shapes I admire. The metal is a constant teacher and shows me much of it's beauty and strength. I collect to understand and to admire. I have also taught my craft for years. Tucson, Arizona is a great place to find the odd collectable item to add to my collection. Fred Fred (Moderator) http://fredz49.blogspot.com/ |
