I'm looking into any solid connections between Wright & Hubbard. I do know that Hubbard was the mentor of Darwin Martin and that he was also an in-law to the Larkin family. Since there was a close connection between Hubbard & Martin and Martin & Wright....I wonder if and how these great men's paths crossed. We're they influenced by one another?
Does anyone have information or insights that could be shared? |

According to the write up about Wright in D. Rago's 2003 book (Price Guide to American Arts and Crafts), Wright visited both Hubbard and Gus Stickley on occaision but called both Roycroft and Stickley furniture "plain as a barn door", which is quoted from the 1932 book "Frank Lloyd Wright, An Autobiography". More research required perhaps.

This post is filtering through the internet and appearing at different forums throughout. I suspect we will be able to get ideas about the connection from a great many authorities soon.
