William Carbys Zimmerman Architect. 1859-1932
This Mansion does not have landmark status.

William Carbys Zimmerman was a brilliant architect, fluent in many styles.

He served as Architect for the state of Illinois.

Famous for his lavishly design cinema theatres to say the least.

Large Scale residence in the Prairie School style. William Carbys Zimmerman Architect.

This house was built for the super rich that lived along the lake.

It's now a cultural center owned by the Chicago Park Disrict and lately have been falling into disrepair.

North Sheridan Rd Prairie School Style Mansion, Edgewater Beach Chicago, IL.

Some detail work next to the the door.

I'm still doing research on the history of this Mansion such as date it was built and who lived in this Prairie School Style Mansion.

Back in it's day EdgeWater was a "get away" for the rich and famous and the influential. A retreat from the city.

But info is very scarce so I have to find time to go to the Edgewater Library.

This house look different from across the street.

This mansion faced the wrecking ball before and the community saved it.

As of this editing the original planters are missing and the building is falling further into disrepair. The demand for luxury condominiums is on the rise in the area.

Another early Prairie School style mini mansion on my block is coming down I just learned. And being replaced with luxury condominiums. A couple of years ago a home by George W. Maher was "accidently" torn down.
