i agree, i love the huge shed dormer roof over the narrow little slit windows.
and the little overhanging roof thingy.
attached is a nice little white bungalow that would again be enhanced by some subtle color. at first i thought this was a Sears Avalon, but on closer inspection, it has either been modified during constrution where a room goes the full width of the porch, or just one of the many look alikes scattered here and there.
I'd bet a few bucks that its an Avalon. Look at the top of the porch columns - they have that distinctive Sears decoration. The porch railing matches the example in Houses by Mail as well and the fireplace chimney looks right too. People often customized their Sears house - Sears even encouraged it! It does need some better colors though!

Don,I think someone built a brick house loosely based on the Avalon plan. Rose will have to chime in on this one, as far as I know Sears didn't sell bricks. Aladdin didn't for sure as they felt the cost of shipping concrete and or bricks would negate the savings realised by the pre-cut concept.
In the 1910 Sears Homebuilder's Catalog reprint, there is nothing about brick but they did sell all the equipment for do-it-yourself concrete blocks with molds for several types of block and column pieces!
