this house is an interesting if not bizzare take on the classic airplane bungalow.
the name comes from the "cockpit" like second story, as well as typical widespread porch, or gable with overhangs with wing like character. the almost flat porch roof certainly fits this mold, although the overhang is minimal. the heavy columns are also a little strange. im sure the stone veneer is not original, nor is the vinyl siding. ![]() |

...and strange eavestroughs on the porch - they look like they are draining back towards the house..is the porch roof actually sloping towards the house in this sort of design?

yes, the gutters drain to the back of the porch roof, but i doubt the roof is sloped in that direction. the gutters are installed on the facia with a slight angle to allow for proper drainage. this is much better than trying to fit gutter and downspouts on the front, given the overhang from the front columns.
