Hi.

We moved in to our house last year. It is in Denver, CO. It was supposedly built in 1910. I am attaching a picture. I refer to this home as "Craftsman" style. Would you guys agree, or would you suggest a different name? I have never seen another home like ours before, if anyone else has, I would like to hear about it.

Thanks,

Eric

I REALLY want to see your house but MySpace is not behaving well, so I bagged setting up an account. Would you mind sending an image to me at info@arts-crafts.com?

Thanks!

Hello Eric,
Welcome to the Arts and Crafts Forums.
If you would like to post pictures you may do so by using either Photo bucket or Flickr.
To get a free Flickr account just click on the following link; www.flickr.com , well I guess you will have to highlight it and copy and paste it in the keyword box above.

Respectfully,

Thanks for posting your question about your house. While your home may have heavy "craftsman" influences in its construction, the style is a hybrid of Dutch Colonial Revival and bungalow. Stylistically, it's eclectic.

During the period your home was built, the bungalow and Colonial styles were equally popular. The Colonial Revival was considered to be much more traditional whereas the bungalow was the "modern" style.

Your house is very beautiful ... and except for the gambrel roof is very bungaloid in its appearance. Most Dutch Colonials have a more traditional look, so yours is unusual. I imagine the person who built it appreciated tradition but wanted equally to be modern and up to date. Hence, your hybrid!

Thanks for sharing!
