i have a craftsmen bungalow, or california bungalow in San Pedro california, built in 1922. there used to be these book case room dividers before they were taking out by the previous owners some years ago. i can see the difference in the floor. i've seen them in a few homes in the area. i would like to build the bookcases back and i'm looking for sources that might have pictures and/or plans on how to build them. any help please?????? kevin

I am in the same boat as Kevin. My 1910 bungalow has had the bookcases torn out and I would love to know of any places where I could buy more (I am willing to refinish and restore if necessary) or to buy new...providing they look like they are old. Any help would be great!! Thanks so much! I live in Southern California.

Good Morning Friends,
There are any number of room divider book cases that were made during the A&C Movement period and there are a few things that I would need to determine what kind of book case/divider you would want. Open on both sides, open entry with doors on both sides, or solid backs ,and etc.

I am a A&C furniture maker and would be happy to help you either with a product or drawings for the same. I just need to know what you are seeking.

I can provide a picture of one I sent to Boston, MA made out of white oak with a closed back and doors with windows on the bottom and one row of doors on top that were solid.

Respectfully,

Shop Drawings for Craftsman Interiors: Cabinets, Moldings & Built-Ins for Every Room in the Home is a book by Robert Lang.

it has shop drawings and instructions for colonades and bookcases.
