I assume the antenna is for a radio of some sort, because I don't think its a satellite TV dish, or maybe it's a weather station set-up of some sort (there are some pretty neat home weather station kits available these days).

In regards to PMs - can't do it (but you can click on a person's name and see if they have a public email address - I don't, to avoid having it retrieved by one of those bot things that sells it to spam lists). No 'avatars' and no animated graphics (I think) either - just the way the boss wants to run the forum, keep it simple deal.
