Just bought a 1911 character conversion suite in Victoria BC. The original house was divided into 4 suites. Is this a true arts & crafts home, or influenced?

jilliana,

I have a book about heritage homes in Victoria, and it has an architectural guide in it. From the pictures in the guide, I think your house would be considered a "Colonial Bungalow/Classical Cottage"

The overhanging eaves and exposed rafters seem to be Arts & Crafts inspired though.

Here's a picture of a "Colonial Bungalow/Classical Cottage"

Hi dave,

Thanks for the info. Where did you get your book?

Those are some great pictures you've posted of houses in Victoria.

Many of the small bookstores in Victoria carry some books about heritage homes in Victoria. There are a few books I've seen on the subject.

Also, check out the Victoria Heritage Foundation: www.victoriaheritagefoundation.ca
