the front of this house is nice, but the side really grabbed my attention. notice the different window patterns in the extended bays, not only in number but also shape.

one bay is cantilevered, one supported on foundation.

i really like the supposed beam, broken by the chimney, the small thick brackets and the little square window.

Interesting! Hard to say without seeing the front of the house, but is that front cantilevered bay a later addition? The windows seem out of scale to the rear windows (not to mention completely different from its sister bay) and construction materials (wood or stucco?) don't look like what was used in the other bay. Do you have any other angles?

Eric, at first I thought the same thing but then the porch pillars match the bay with the odd windows. The bay with windows that match those at the rear of the house doesn't match the pillars or other bay.

I'm talking about the bay towards the front of the house and not the one with arched windows and matching stone/brick foundation and pillars.

The front bay with black rectangular windows looks out of place, like it was tacked onto the house (at least that is what is seems like on this side view). Looking at the roofline of the gables, the front/right bay is sitting higher by a few inches...I'm really not sure. Either way, those rooflines probably don't help a lot with drainage during a hard rain!

I agree it looks out of place yet the windows sort of match those on the back porch. Truth is, original construction would not have covered the chimney like that so you are right but we need more pics. Don?
