the deep dutch-roofed gable on this one caught my attention, as did the keystoned arch on the windows.

i have been noticing more of these shaped, enclosed gables on more houses recently. nice touches, but they would seem to be difficult to maintain...

That is a different look indeed...can't say I've seen anything like that up my way...you might get small snow drifts in there, during winter
