I found this home on Flickr. The owners have given me permission to feature their house here. I think that you will love the interiors. Please welcome our member(s) and owner of this magnificent property - "tudorhead" to the forum.

From the Owner:
"Built in 1932 and designed by architect C. J. Winnes, Oak House is our Craftsman interpretation of a classic Tudor. We named it "Oak House" in honor of the monarch oak (at right) that shelters it. We still have the original blueprints, as well as a photo of Winnes' cinder-block office, circa 1927. His own house is about a mile away."

Hi Lauren - Your house is great and I like your decorating taste. The house reminds me of a number of houses I have seen around the DC area in Maryland and Virginia. Your's, however, is finished much nicer than most I have seen.

Hi Ralph - Thanks for the warm welcome. Although I only recently registered, I have been lurking for several months and I appreciate all of the knowledgeable folks and good advice dispensed on this site.

I have been a fan of the A&C style for years and more recently have become interested in better understanding the movement. This site, among others, has been helpful in that way. Not to mention, I very much enjoy the pictures that many of you post of your homes.

My wife and I just had a bid accepted on a 1922 farmhouse in Arlington, VA with many A&C features. It is, however, a fixer-upper and will require a lot of TLC to bring the A&C style back to the house. I hope to consult with you in the future as I embark on these projects. Thanks again and I look forward to reading your posts.

Hello Phil,
With 60 years in the woodworking trade, I believe I can help you in many ways.

The reason I have 60 years under my belt is because, we are Welsh and when a boy turned 13 years of age he would start his apprenticeship under his grand father in the family trade and of course ours is woodworking. I am the forth generation and last in my family as the only legacy I have is the students I taught in both the apprenticeship program as well as the Vocational Carpentry to both high school and adult students.

So when you get started I will be here writing for anything you need. By the way My email address is Ralj7@AOL.com should you care to write privately.

Respectfully,

Ralph
