Happy New Year Bungalow

1.5 story bungalow with a hipped roof and dormers. Good color coordination of the roof shingles with the color of the home. Interesting porch railings. Unfortunately the windows were replaced with "picture windows" some time in the past.

Good Morning Lauren,
What impressed me the most was the manner of decor they gave the open extended rafter tails with no facia board to cover the ends. The notch was used to help deter water from rotting the ends of the rafters.

On the Dormer I noticed that they should have used a cripple jack rafter on the hip roof line that would be between the last jack rafter and the corners of the hip rafter. The space that was left by not using them, made the roof weak in these areas as the spread should not exceed 24" on center.

Other than that it is a very nice bungalow.

Respectfully,

It looked like hip jacks to me (I'm no expert like Ralph though), but the spacing is odd. Still very cute with lots of interesting detail.

Dramatic color scheme on a side gabled 2 story bungalow with a gable dormer. The charcoal-dark chocolate color really makes it stand out in the neighborhood.

Wow, is thatever a nice looking house and I see the flashing around the chimney appears to be new, unless it is painted that color.

Lauren, is there any word when we will get on a new picture program as I have many things I would like to post. I was trying to use flickr but I now don't remember how to get into it.

One of those Senior moments doncha know.

Respectfully,

Ralph Jones
