this bungalow is next door to the one i posted yesterday. they share the same bracket detail, the double upper member. tudor influence on the gable. not as original or interesting as the next door neighbor, but still a nice house, showing the continuous fabric of the neighborhood.

Both very nice examples. I like the detail down the side of the house - it adds a lot of interest. Nice chimney - reminds me of the Tudor stacks back in England. Shame about the ironwork on the windows & as with many bungalows nowadays, it needs some color and a bit more detail in the front yard (although I guess it's winter so most of the vegetation is sleeping).

this neighborhood (i lived one block over from these two houses from 1959-67) is an economically depressed area with relatively high to very high crime rate, hence the bars. that is also reflected in the condition and level of care of most. the number, density and overall design quality of bungalows in the area is amazing. its a shame they arent better cared for. im sure most dont know what they have.

many are rentals or subsidized.

attached is the house i lived in. not a great bungalow example but close to many.

I'm not quite sure what to make of my submission for today, between the color scheme and the V-shaped cornice/fascia between the columns. The color is borderline 'painted lady,' but a little odd for my tastes. The V shape does not look original to the house, but who knows. This one is an odd hodgepodge of architecture. Interesting, nonetheless.

wow nice house. i think the v arches are totally original. the little gabled dormer is a little strange to me, otherwise a beautiful place.
