I am refinishing some floors this week, and reminded why I dislike refinishing so much.. The dust mess!!!
Here is a tip to help reduce the mess (may halp all of you in the same position) Pick up a simple box fan.. and a few furnace filters.. Keep the fan about 3 ft away from you.. Any airborne dust will be pulled into the filters (the fan suction will keep the filters in place) and filtered out of the air. This helps to reduce the dust mess that gets into the air, and settles all over your house. Well, back to sanding... ~Rob Bennett www.houseofyesteryear.net |

good advice, i have used a similar method but further on in the process. the window was replaced with a furnace filter, extra hose affixed to the vacuum exhaust and ran thru a hole in the filter. just before putting down the finish, ceiling, walls and floor were vacuumed with filtered air coming thru the filter and any turbulence exhausted thru the window resulying in a dustless finish. my friends laughed a lot and the word anal was used many times but i had a lot of fun doing that floor.
