Hello Folks,
I and my Associate in training are starting to restore a stair case in a home that was built in 1842 and the reason is because the house had caught fire and a lot of the origonal house was lost. However it has been restored to a poiint the they needed someone with the knowledge of replacing the stair way in the Federal style.

This is where I came in because of one of my clients. Following are some pictures of the way the stairs looks now and I will post PIP (pictures in progress) both in my shop and on the job site for those who might be interested.

So with out further time wasted here are the pictures.

I am going to have to make two new newel posts and one half newel post like the one in a couple of the pictures. I also will need to make new banisters on the second floor as well as a new curve on the top of the stair portion that curves to the left at the top of the straight run portion.

This job is going to be a challenge as far as the curves sections go for I will have to carve them by hand in order to get the exact shape needed for the bends in the curves.By the way all of the hand rails and newel posts along with the new banister will be made out of Mahogany @ $6.00 per board foot rough sawn.

Respectfully,

Ralph Jones
