Attached is a picture of my home which was built in 1929. It obviously has Colonial Revival trim but is the basic shape more of a Tudor? It is located in Eastern Indiana. We have spent 10 years restoring this wonderful place. it's be great to know if anyone has ever seen one like it.

When your home was built in 1929 it was probably considered a "Modernized Colonial" by anyone who looked at house plan books at that time (1929 Home Builders Catalog). There is a plan in one of the C. L. Bowes catalogs (#14072-B) that shares some similarities including the broken pediment over the entry, forward lapped gables, prominent chimney, shed dormers, etc. The pitch of your roof though has more in common with the English style. Taken together, it's typical of the eclectic mix of styles architects were fond of. One thing your house definitely is not is Tudor.

The William A. Radford Company (Chicago) was a prolific publisher of house plans during the 1920s, but I believe C. L. Bowes (Hinsdale, IL) was a close second as his company was responsible for most if not all plans in the Home Builders Catalog.

Best,
Rikki

Rikki,

Thanks for your response. I look forward to researching the catalogs you mentioned. She has been a pleasure to own and restore. I believe there used to be a wrought iron railing around the flat porch when I was younger. I grew up next door and then bought it when I was in my early 30's.
