The above is a short photo essay on Asilomar. An Arts and Crafts Style retreat and conference center On the Monterey Peninsula. Easy to miss, it is tucked away behind the dunes at the Asilomar State Park. Park at the beach and walk into the campus via the boardwalk.
If you click "show info" there is a short history of the career of the Architect: Julia Morgan that accompanies the images. "What I did on my summer vacation." by Lauren... Book on Asilomar: Julia Morgan, Architect, And the Creation of the Asilomar Conference Grounds

Lauren,
What a fantastic presentation! First, the building is a real gem -- good eye on scoping it out. Secondly, can you please provide instructions on how upload your Flikr images in this slideshow fashion onto the A&C Forum? I am close to ready on three or four presentations on A&C meccas that would be useful on this site. Best Regards, Copperoak |

I've stayed at Asilomar many times over the past 50 years. It has been a long time, but they had very reasonable rates (especially for the Monterey/Carmel area. It is a conference center but individuals can stay also. We are fortunate to have this living architectural gem so accessible.
