No fair, Im no where near Minn! I have heard about this show though and wouldnt mind going to it sometime. I'm thinking about attending The Craftsmen Weekend in Pasadena next month though.
Anyone gleefully announcing that they will be attending a show that the rest of us can't go to this year is required to take photos and report back afterward. Please?
Ohhh, Are we getting to put requests in? Seems only fair! I like what Fred likes best so I wont request that, any unusual furniture pieces would be cool, and retail prices if thats not out of bounds for the forum? Wouldnt mind knowing what some of these things are going for out in the world...
i would have taken some pixs had i seen this thread sooner, have been to it for several years and went on saturday. have some friends that have sold there on and off. little dismayed that it was half the size it was last year, i understand a sign of the economy but it shouldn't cost the same to get in as previous years with half as much to see IMHO.
Pretty soon you will be able to get this stuff for next to nothing on the account that 20th century furniture is on the decline. Have you guys seen the results of the last Rago & Treadway auction's? Pretty pethedic isn't it? Im not so sure that it's the economy and not the lack of intrest in this stuff. It seems like the younger generation is into modern more than anything. The Art & Crafts movement has long hit it's peak and is now on the decline and crashing fast.
well it may intrest you that dealers had record sales at this years show and the second building the show used to have was full of new reproductions and mid century pieces, the show is more focused on higher end antiques. It was fantastic.
don't want to pick a fight but are you one of the show organizers? one of the largest displays in the building was previous, and also this year by Gabberts which is all new, there were a couple other dealers selling new also. i saw as many if not more new pieces of furniture than i did antique ones. maybe you and i did not go to the same place??? to me anytime an event drops in half from one year to the next does not seem very positive.
